Phewww!!!

Power Cuts are ruining my life, the same way a forlorn lover ruins his, when the girl he loves runs away with the richer guy.

And in my line of work, power cuts mean, huge monetary and creative losses, besides losses of opportunities.

6,279,152 is our current traffic ranking. I wanted to tell you all yesterday, but forgot. All the 130 posts of my first ever blog, My Musings have now been merged with Footsteps on the Sand of Time.
So all the useless people who also intend to be my future biographers my website has 213 posts now. Loads of material for you all to search and filter.

My idea of Adults entry banned on the teens site, is picking up well. Teenagers I talked to have obviously scores and scores of issues in their pockets and the whole atmosphere I think can be wonderfully built with only teenagers handling the website. I am an ardent believer of the theory that In India at least, we restrict and limit a teenager very very much.
And most of these people waste their lives in mindless pursuits and mis guided conceptions.
Giving them a medium, to speak, shout and blurt their voice out, I think a positive change may come out.

Speaking of myself, I very much want to say out about teens. I started my writing with topic of teenagers. But rules should apply to me as well. So we shall be launching a site dedicated to adults and their we the adults can discuss dating, love and sex and so many other issues we have. Seriously speaking, a love and dating site is on its way.

With electricity playing the role of the nemesis, my hopes only rest with the team, especially with the content. Ankeita am glad, is proving to be quite consistent, while the most of the team is surely showing signs of complete lack of zeal, passion or interest.

Now I respect actor Aamir Khan a lot, for every since a kid, I have seen his movies, his work, perhaps each movie he has acted in since, Q se Q tak. Parampara was cool,Ghulam was good, Andaz Apna Apna with Salman rocked. Baazi and Raja Hindustani I never liked much, and first half of Ishq was amazing. Then, Sarforash and recent films like TZP all have proved time and again, what a fab actor he is.
SO, today for my blog recommendation I would advise all (especially the busy bees who have so less time on thier hands) to read Aamir's blog. Yes, for the ignorants, not only the famed actor blogs regularly, he responds to the comments (at times) and indulges in quite an interactive form of blogging.

Things Have been looking up

First the news that has really been of a great relief and calm for me.

yeah, that is the current world traffic ranking of orangy. For those who have never read the earlier posts here, just a couple of days back, we were in the 8 crore ranking league. And now its 6.
A jump of two in few days alone.

Just call all those scoffing at my business sense here and show them this. Within this very month, I have got the ranking of Orangy from 12 crore plus to 6 crore plus.

Now, my actual purpose of writing the post. I have been bit worried for the site, as to the kind of returns that I am expecting, which are not much I must confess. I mean, I am working just too hard on this.

The teen site is on track and I have finalized the template of the books site as well. That should go up soon as well.

http://justaashi.blogspot.com is a blog, that was set up by my mentor, Aashi but sadly she no longer does post their at all. It would be my endeavor to make orangy a website with a human touch, not those purely commercial sites which look so weird and alien, cluttered with loads of advertisements, pop - ups and very little content.

So i approached her on FB yesterday, in hopes that if I get my mentor on my side, it would be just plain so awesome. Anyway, those who know me, know that am already dragging almost every second person I know, for this website. Human touch you see.

In my latest attempts, my dad, who is not much computer savvy is being dragged in as well. He will soon get down to practice the nuances of how to manage a website and that would be so great I tell you all.

The competitors of Orangy

Loads of months ago, didi asked me, that since there are so many websites already floating in the websphere, how did I plan to turn out things differently. Competition, at least in theory is quite intense in the web world.

My answer to her was that, all the sites lack one thing, which only I have. They do not have Tushar Mangl with them. And that single factor makes my website unique.

Moving on to the competition part. I do not believe in competition. The only competition we may have in life is with one self. Orangy has to out par itself and not others. For this I just dont need a Tushar Mangl but I need this team, to be with me and keep on doing the excellent job that is happening. For Tushar Mangl is today only but team shall survive tomorrow as well.

The tangy sweet sour taste of life - Orangy

Several friends and acquaintances ask me what Orangy is all about. I have no answer, not because I am doing all this as a juvenile whim but because the vision I hold for Orangy is too large, too long term to be put into words.

Hence, I coined this slogan, you like it or not, do tell me.

Orangy : The tangy sweet sour taste of life

I think this one shall do. We have certain sad things, bad things like the social issues we write upon and that we can classify under sour taste. Sweet well, the site has this buoyant energy which you can see all over and that makes it sweet and nice. Tangy well, how do I put that? But anyway certain content here is tangy as well. Life well, Orangy has so many aspects of your daily life covered into it. Be it cooking or books etc.

Footsteps on the Sands of Time, is now my autobiographical site. Time shall tell whether I was a failure in life or success and in how much degrees, nevertheless if I die tomorrow or today for that matter, I am going to still remain with you all.

We are working on two new sites one is on teenagers and another on education. Problem is to the minute technical details one has to work on. Content should not be much of a problem.

Things have been looking up and down on several fronts. Technik and Jagruti are suffering from quality content, whereas Foodzie has gained a recipe from Richa and Orangy an interview from Netika. Interactive, that's how I will like Orangy to be. The tangy part I guess.

I know it is not a figure to be boastful of but still at least we have a ranking. But it was going up and well and suddenly it is showing a downward trend, although marginally.

Blogger Interview # 1 - Netika Lumb

For a passerby perhaps, the blog Observations.. created by the twenty year old blogger from New Delhi, Netika Lumb may be just another personal blog,but for people like me, who have gone through this very simple, no -frills blog, a serene depth of thoughts are quite treasured. For these are not just random rants or blurting out of things, the blogs you find on Observations are enriched with clarity of thoughts. Also, I would like to say here that this blog comes out to be a very neat and clean sort of a blog, abolutely de-cluttered, de -technalized, with blogs which actually have a lot of meaning and sense of them. According to me, through these words alone, I can say that Observations stands out from the crowd.

With my deep appreciation for the author, I interviewed her with certain questions. Here are the excerpts:

1) Tell our readers a bit about yourself.

I am a regular 20 year old girl who is just like her name:principled(BTW, my name is Netika) I don't think I am any different from anyone in this world, I only see things differently.

I believe, that there is no Aam Junta and no Non-aam Junta. We all have atleast one trait that makes us little different fromt he others.It's only a matter of time,effort and will power that we showcase it/them.

2) Some words about your blog/ blogs.

My personal blog-Observations, is not about anything in particular. I try posting once a week, and the one thing that I deliberately follow is that, I don't write fiction. At times, it is about the hard realities of life and how I view them, and at others it is about some specific incident which I shed light on, so that my readers get a message; helping them become better citizens.

I also write for Jagruti, which though is not very often, but is about the issues that plague our society.

4) Blogging as a social medium. Your thoughts on this:

Very interesting, dynamic, expressive and slightly intelligent than the other SNS(no offence meant to the makers or members; I too am a part of the brigade ;))

5) Every blogger has his/her story, what is yours?

I started blogging in 2006, but that was not frequently updated, until 2008 when I deleted the blog and made a new one- Observations. The only thing common in the 2 blogs was/is that I still write for my own self. Readership matters, yes, but even if people stop reading my blog, I don't think it shall have any effect what-so-ever on my posts/thoughts/style. The only thing that has changed from then to now, is that ,well, there are more readers :)

6) Tell us, generally, what kind of role does aesthetics play in blogging. Does the presentation of a blog matter a lot?

Oh! Totally.. For one, I don't read blogs/blog posts that have anything obscene to offer. Though I believe that in a medium like this, it's perfectly okay to post stuff about your personal life; I still refrain from reading/commenting such posts unless I feel I have a fresh opinion to give.

Apart from that, blogs with dark templates are turn-offs..I just don't feel like reading them. Besides, I hate very crowded blogs.As in blogs with al the possible gadgets on Earth(rather, Blogger/wordpress :P)

7) Describe a positive and a negative change blogging brought into your life.

Negative: Invasion of Privacy. There are times when I write stuff merely by observing things around me and people think I am in some deep sh**. I really appreciate the concern and I am also gratified, but I don't like constant questioning. Also, I wonder what it takes to assume that I am GENUINELY writing GENERALLY. At other times, if I am actually facing the tides and I post it, I have to face lot of lectures and put op with umpteen advice of Friends.

Positive: It has given me some lovely friends. People who I could not have otherwise connected with :)

8) Something which you always wanted to do/write on your blog and never did or wish to do on a later date :

In the past; Nothing

In the present: Nothing

In the future: I'd like to write a post for the one I love. Ofcourse it's going to be full of praise(assuming he deserves it ;))

9) Blogging as a medium is often used for venting out ire, grudges, narration of love and heart breaks and sad romantic tales. comment.

I am totally okay with it. It's important for any emotion to be expressed. Now whether it's in the garb of an anonymous identity or any other manner, it doesn't matter. In a free medium, expression should never be a problem. No one's asking the other for advise/or any tangible for that matter, so I guess it's a classic case of "to each his own".

10) Lastly, some words for our readers and the blogging community please:

I know some super-intellectual people who think blogging is an arduous task. I also know some people who think blogging is an activity for VERY INTELLIGENT people. I guess all these people are wrong ;). It is only a medium where you express what you want, no inhibitions, no fears, no strings. JUST PLAIN, SIMPLE you. At the end, we should not forget that we are all social animals, and no matter how hard we try to deny, but the fact is that we love any kind of interaction and any kind of appreciation. We want to be emotionally/mentally satisfied. Blogging can provide all. Depends on what you're looking for

Female Foeticide

As Wikipedia defines, “Female foeticide also known as Sex-selective abortion, son preference or female de-selection) are methods of gendercide which are practiced in areas where male children are valued over female children.”

In India, the sex ratio in some states esp. Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat is lower than others, the figures of female foeticide and infanticide is higher. Reason being, people prefer sons over daughter because the mythologies say that the cremation done by sons leads to Moksha.

Besides, when a daughter is born, she is looked upon as a burden to the family. She doesn’t contribute to the income of the family; rather, the prevalent dowry system makes the parents think that it will be an additional obligation to get her married.

The hypocrisy is that they worship young girls in the days of Navratri, treating them as an Avtaar of Durga and as soon as it is over, they do not hesitate to kill their unborn and even born baby girls in the greed of a son.

The son is thought to be the carrier of family name, but what they don’t understand is that without women the world can’t survive, let alone the family name. The son is thought to be the supporter in the old age, and the daughters are supposed to be the consumers until they get married, and investment in them is taken as useless.

Killing a foetus in the womb in the name of such blind faiths and ages old traditions is agonising. Foeticide is equally criminal activity and killing a life before it comes to the world is even hateful and sinful.

The govt has undoubtedly made gender testing by ultrasound an illegal activity, but still private hospitals and clinics are pursuing these iniquitous activities under cover. People greedy of sons don’t want their daughters to be born and get them aborted by the doctors who sale their conscience for some cash. The whole society is responsible for this immoral system.

We can’t blame only men but the women too are equally involved. The older women of the families who want grandsons instead of granddaughters initiate this which ends up with a life not being born. It is very unfortunate that women sometimes out of pressure of the family or sometimes just because they are unaware have to abort their unborn baby girl. Even women, who are blessed with the boon of bringing life to earth, can’t understand the importance of life and get involved in reprobate acts.

The only remedy is education, specifically of the women folk. The educated women understand that daughters and sons are alike and it is no good eliminating one gender. There is no life possible without the presence of either. All men or all women and the world ends.

Jab They Met

The Protagonist of this post are two people.
A girl named "Ms. B'ful hair" and a guy named "Mr. Ghaint". They were best of friends. Their frequency matched to an extent that they themselves were amused. Truth being, they were both "so- not- ordinary" on their own selves.
So different and yet so similar, so apart and yet so close. The only constraint being they lived 250 kms apart. The distance is not very long, but it matters to those who cant see each other everyday for the far-ness does restrain them.
They had met many times before, but this time was something important and special. Ghaint's birthday. And also, the time when they were both getting closer emotionally, bonding more than friends, realizing their attachment reaching peaks.They planned for the day for over more than a month. They talked and talked about it. They would do this and they would do that, they would go and they would wander there, they would shop, they would have lunch together, they would have "Geleto" together, they would go for a movie or they would spend time in some café.
And since it had been long time since they last saw each other, they were more than excited.
Finally the day arrived. With butterflies in her stomach, and teenage awkwardness, 'B'ful Hair' sat on the pre- decided bench waiting for 'Ghaint'. He had caught rough cold and cough and was a little late for their first ever "official date".
After loong hours of waiting in the freezing cold of January, when she saw him approaching, she turned around, silently wishing him to bear hug her from behind only to realize they were standing in a packed public place and he was too 'shy' to shake hands [sounds cute ;) for a guy].
After exchanging the "hiez/helloz", and wishing him b'day (she had beforehand thought of kissing him on the cheek to wish him, but again, damn the jam packed public place) both of them atingled to see each other after such long time, they headed towards nowhere. To find a place to sit and talk and to look at each other.
So they moved on, craving deep down to hold hands, chatting a little too bit, when they found themselves standing outside a shopping mall. They went inside, 'B'ful hair' trying to keep pace with fast but not seemingly furious 'Ghaint' (for one moment she thought that was he in a hurry or that he dint want to be seen with her, was she looking that terrible?).
They lingered in the mall for a while, but then decided to move to a cozier place where they could catch up while sipping on their coffees. And they stepped out towards a "Hookah bar" in the neighbourhood when 'B'ful Hair' startled on the out of the blues 'Ghaint's fingering her hair while she walked besides him. And this called for a giggle.
They chose an acute couch at the bar to be close enough to talk to each other. Talking about each other's lives, updating each other with happenings, and all the crap of the world but not the desired content of thier errand and The date.
'B'ful hair' pulled out a small packet out of her hand bag and passed it to 'Ghaint' as the B'day gift she had brought him- a pair of cufflinks. 'Ghaint' bantered why had not she gift wrapped it and all she could do was a broad smile.
They had their coffee and babbled about this and that.
They stayed there for a while and then moved on to another restaurant for lunch, though none of them felt hungry. While they chose a table to be seated at, 'B'ful Hair' retired to the ladies room, to freshen up a little and to take off her coat to reveal her halter neck top she had purposely chosen for for the occasion.
When she returned to the table, the heat between them grew. They kept sitting there for an hour or so before finally ordering something to feed themselves up.
They excused themselves from the restaurant for the dessert. Geleto was no more a choice, Ghaint had a real bad throat, so they chose to grab a quick slice of cake in the neighbourhood.
'B'ful Hair' forgot to give Ghaint the "B'day bite" and finished her share of the slice so quick and disappointed Ghaint (what he told her days later in their "lazy lamhe").
They sat there in Ghaint's car for what seemed like hours passing in a matter of seconds, shaing pictures, bantering, cajoling with each other, before finally moving for a random long drive.
They dint know where they were heading to, or what they were going to do but they kept on driving for hours, exploring the outskirts of the town, finding a lake they never knew existed, passing through a botanical garden, stealing looks at each other through corners of their eyes, when ultimately, Ghaint gathered all his guts and held out his hand for 'B'ful Hair' to hold.
She was literally waiting for this moment to arrive, and without wasting a single split second she held his hand. They drove through the highway silently holding each others hand, even while changing the gears, occasionally pecking on hands, when he finally pulled off the car on the roadside, and they came closer.
Hesitating Ghaint put his arm around her is what she thought was happening but when she dint feel the touch, for one second she thought she has become numb out of excitement but when she turned around, she found his hand on the back rest of her seat. Furiously, she took his hand and put it around her shoulder and leaned her head on his shoulder for real.
They kept sitting like that silently for a while when at last she heard him say "come closer, I wanna hug you tight".
It was happening. She drew herself towards him to embrace that "Lovely Bandit" (she used to call him in thier intimate SMS moments) and before she knew, she felt his lips being pressed to hers.
Everything else ceased to exist.
